Arxx has introduced 3 more product lines:

Current Arxx will be called ARXX PRIME. This is our main line that is by far the most widely used Insulated Concrete form in New York State.

Arxx is Your Cost Effective Solution to be Code Compliant

Arxx has quickly become one of the most effective ways to be code compliant, as it is now necessary to insulate from the footing to the floor joist. NY State has adopted the new regulation as this is a major way to save money in your heating cost, and giving you a more comfortable home. When you use Arxx in the basement not only do you have a warm dry area, but you now have the availability to finish walls as we give you a nailer to place a finish on. Allowing you to use the space RE: Office, Bedroom, Apartment...the options are endless.

                                              Building Codes

As you may know New York has adopted new building codes, and energy codes. Arxx fits very nicely with these changing codes. The new code allows Arxx to reference to NYS code R404.4 Insulating concrete form foundation walls, or the ACI 318 or the provisions of this sectio

   1)      Therefore we highly suggest you use and reference “ARXX Prescriptive Design Requirements  Manual”.  This fully engineered document is based on the NYS codes and the *ACI 318. Arxx also bases all our construction techniques and installation procedures on the *ACI 318. This will save you time and money in your residential construction.

2)      Anyone who is in the design stage and are using ARXX Building Products in the foundation or building the entire envelope this is a great tool. This will take you from the footing to the plates once again saving you time and money on your construction and design cost for residential construction. On the same note we have the design and specification soft ware and hard copies to assist you in your drawings. We highly suggest you use this “ARXX specific tools” in all your Arxx projects to greatly save you time, money and grief.

3)      The new energy code also calls for you to insulate the basement area from a minimum of R-11 to an R-19 depending on you heating plants and design. As you know this also fits very nicely with ARXX HIGH PERFORMANCE WALLS. In many cases if you use ARXX for the entire envelope it will make your designing much easier and cost effective when you have to take all glass and openings in account when designing your new home per the new code. Arxx has a *documented effective R-rating of R-40 to R-50 (depending on your region).

*ACI = American concrete institute, the bases of most concrete construction

*Study performed by Construction Technology Laboratories, most wood framed walls would have to be built to the level of R-50 or greater to perform at an equivalent of an Arxx High Performance Wall.

Arxx  12” High Form

The Arxx High Performance Wallsystem has added a new product to our extensive line of  ICF   forms and accessory products. The 6” wide (nominal concrete core) 12” high form unit has been developed to compliment wall coursing in basements and crawlspaces and to minimize the requirement for the use of height adjusters.

Product Description

The Width is the same as the 6” form-11 ½” overall with a nominal 6” concrete core. The height (coursing height) is 12”. The overall length is the same as, all the Arxx standard forms @ 48”.  The forms have been designed to offer maximum versatility, having an exposed web on one side and a buried web on the other.  The new forms offers the same R Values and physical characteristics as the standard 6” form. The EPS walls are the same thickness as the 6” standard. The form is designed with the new ‘double X’ web for increased strength. The forms will be packaged for shipping in a bundle of 16.

Placement

The new 12” Standard can be installed anywhere in the wall coursing, preferably between standard forms (not stacked together). The stability of the form design allows it to be treated the same as a standard form. At present, there is not a 12” corner form, so corners must be mitre cut.  Additional strapping is required on the outside at these corners. All mitred corners should have typical corner reinforcement bar.

Coursing

In a typical full height wall, it is preferable to stack the 12” form between regular 16 Ύ” courses. The 12” form may be stacked as the top course or the bottom course of the wall.

Basement Only- typically 6 courses of Arxx @ 8-4 ½” offered am 8’ Finished ceiling height. Adding the new 12” high form provides a 9’ finished ceiling height. ¨ 6 courses + 1 course of short form@ 12” = 9’-4 ½”

Full One Story – (with an 8’ basement ceiling height and 8’ ceiling height main floor) the dimension for this wall from top of footing to top of sill plate is typically 17’3 Ύ” +-, this can be achieved by using– ¨ 11 courses + 2 courses of short form @ 12” = 17’4 Ό”, cut a standard down to suit exact dimension.

Full Two Story – (with an 8’ ceiling height in the basement, main and second floor) the dimension for this wall from top of footing to top of sill plate is typically 26’ –1 ½” +-, this can now be achieved by using – ¨ 18 Courses + 1 course of short form @12” = 26’-1 ½”

Slab on Grade One Story 9’ Ceiling – the required dimension for this wall is 9’–1 ½” allowing for strapping and a 5/8” drywall ceiling, this can be achieved by using – ¨ 6 courses + 1 Course of short form @12 = 9’-4 ½”, then cut down a standard form by 3” +-.

Frost Walls & Grade Beams – nominal sizes of 24” and 36” can now be achieved by just using the new 12” form, in these applications, horizontal reinforcement is required at a min. of 1 row per 24” o.c..

Arxx Hook

Introduction

An important part of the complete Arxx job has been anchoring the top course to the course below it. Arxx encourages this practice to eliminate the possibility of form movement during concrete placement due to, movement below or people leaning over or on the top course. Tape has always been an efficient way to attach the top course of Arxx to the course below it, but in inclement weather this can be a problem. To address this, Arxx has developed a wire hook that will do the job in any weather very quickly.

Arxx Hook

The new Arxx Hook will brings efficiencies to your job by allowing you to:

                       > Attach top course to course below in any weather

                       > Safely attach the top course without leaning over the wall

> Connect together 2 course high grade beams

> Pre-build and move walls into place when working on uneven ground

> Connect forms together vertically over opening

>  Hold corners together vertically

Use the Arxx Hook to connect two courses together.

 1) When both courses are together, reach inside with the Arxx Hook and connect the bottom small hook end into one of the two notches 'A' in the web, as shown in diagram #1

2) Then pull the top of the Arxx Hook over the top of the web, in one of the two spaces, 'B' as per diagram #1. The Arxx Hook should snap tightly in place.

3) See diagram #2 for location of Arxx Hook.

Use 2 Arxx Hooks per standard form. (See Diagram 3). On the second web in from either end of the top standard.

Use 3 Arxx hooks per corner form. (See Diagram 3 & 4). On the two webs directly in the corner (A & B) and on the first web  on the 32" side. (C)

Estimating

The Arxx Hook will be packaged in quantities of 250 per box, which should be enough to complete 2 average residential projects, when used to secure the top course as per a 'Good Estimate'.

Good Estimate - Arxx Hook for top course only.  ~ Total linear Footage / 2 '" Allows for one Arxx Hook every 2'

Better Estimate- Arxx Hook for top course plus all corners from first course to top course.~ (rota I linear Footage / 2) + (rota I # of comers X3) = Allows for one Arxx Hook every 2' plus 3 Arxx Hooks per each corner form

Best Estimate - Arxx Hook for top 2 courses and bottom 2 courses plus all corners from first course to top course.~ (rota I linear Footage) + (rota I # of comers X3) = Allows for one Arxx Hook every 2' on bottom 2 courses plus one Arxx Hook every 2' on top 2 courses plus 3 Arxx Hook per each corner form.
